Solution Engineer – Defence | Tampere, Finland

Do you want to put your networking and IT skills to work in one of the most meaningful environments imaginable? As a Solution Engineer at Systematic, you will be the trusted technical expert that Finnish and Baltic defence customers rely on – from first installation through to on-site support in the field

The job
You will work hands-on with armed forces customers in Finland and the Baltics throughout the full lifecycle of our SitaWare command-and-control software. That means configuring and installing it in operational environments, troubleshooting complex issues in the field, and training the administrators and end-users who depend on it. Much of your work happens on-site at customer garrisons and military exercises, where you build the kind of long-term relationships that come from being the person who makes things work when it matters.

In addition to that, some of your key tasks will be to:

• Configure and install SitaWare software in customer system environments
• Provide on-site and remote technical support during military exercises and pre-planned testing
• Deliver training courses for software administrators and end-users at customer garrisons
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to networking, operating systems, and software configuration
• Support sales activities through your technical expertise and customer relationships

Joining the team
You will be part of a small, tightly knit defence services team covering Finland and the Baltic region. The team delivers training, technical support, and integration work for armed forces customers, and everyone brings deep expertise and a genuine commitment to making the software work. You will have real autonomy over your own customer projects while always having experienced colleagues to call on. The work is varied, international, and purposeful – what you configure and fix directly supports military commanders making critical decisions in the field.

Your qualifications
We are looking for someone with a solid IT infrastructure background who is equally at home behind a terminal and in front of a room of soldiers.

You bring:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in software engineering, information technology, or a related field
• Two to five years of experience in networking, communications technology, or IT infrastructure
• Strong proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems
• Practical understanding of IP networking, routing, virtualisation, and containerisation
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern AI technologies
• The ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
• Fluent Finnish and English, both written and spoken
• Willingness to travel approximately 40–60 days per year, primarily to the Baltic region

Experience from the Defence area – e.g. from military service or from working as a contractor to the Defence Forces in a previous job – is a plus.
