Systematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situationsSystematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situations

Solution Architect, Defence Services

Command-and-control software sits at the heart of how modern defence forces operate. As our first Solution Architect in France, you will apply your understanding of French military structures and systems to ensure Systematic delivers effective software solutions that provide operational value. This is a unique opportunity for a technically-minded former staff officer – or someone with similar defence experience – to be involved in solving complex technical issues, shaping customer outcomes and helping establish a new team in a growing international business.

Systematic is a Danish software company with over 1100 employees across Europe and beyond, building mission-critical IT solutions for defence, healthcare and public safety. Our defence products are trusted by militaries across NATO – helping armed forces share information, coordinate operations and make faster, better decisions in the field.

We are now growing our presence in France, and this role is central to that ambition.

The role: using your technical expertise and defence experience to ensure our C4I software solutions deliver customer impact
As the Solution Architect for Systematic France, you will be the primary technical link between Systematic and our French military customers.

Ideally, you will bring first-hand understanding of French military systems, stakeholders and ways of working, combined with curiosity about technology and a practical approach to solving complex problems. By applying that insight to Systematic’s market-leading C4I software products, you will help ensure our customers derive real value from the solutions we deliver. You will build trusted relationships with military customers, shape solution designs around operational needs and provide hands-on direction to engineers across a range of projects.

You will also play an active role in growing Systematic’s business in France.
In short, you can look forward to:

  • working directly with French military customers and stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate these into effective technical solutions
  • using your understanding of command structures, processes and defence systems to help shape solutions that fit the customer’s environment
  • providing technical leadership and direction to engineers across multiple concurrent projects, with a focus on delivering measurable customer value
  • supporting business development by combining defence insight with technical credibility to identify and help secure new opportunities
  • contributing to the establishment of Systematic’s new French location as a founding team member

In this role, you should expect occasional domestic travel to customer sites (approx. once per month) and international travel for internal activities (approx. twice per year).

Joining the team: new location, new team, part of an international organisation
You will be joining the Defence Services Western Europe team – a multidisciplinary group of around 20 colleagues based in Farnborough, UK, and Bucharest, Romania, covering project management, solution architecture, engineering, training and consultancy activities. France is our newest location within this constellation, which means you will have the unique opportunity to help shape the culture and direction of a team from the ground up.

The work is varied and the stakes are real: our solutions help military forces operate seamlessly with their allies. You will collaborate closely with talented colleagues across Europe and contribute to something that genuinely matters.

What you bring: technical depth and leadership with a customer-facing mindset
The strongest candidates for this role will be former military staff officers or defence professionals who have developed a strong understanding of C4I systems and want to work at the point where operations and software interact. What matters most is that you can understand complex operational requirements, engage credibly with military stakeholders and help shape practical technical solutions that work in the real world.

Beyond that, you will need:

  • a university degree in a relevant subject (Bachelor’s level or higher)
  • a strong understanding of French military systems, stakeholders, planning processes or command environments
  • technical curiosity and confidence working on software, system design or IT-based problem solving
  • real-world experience or knowledge of military C2 systems, networks, communications or digital transformation in defence
  • fluency in both English and French is essential[2.1]

On a personal level, you will need to communicate clearly, lead with confidence and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a multi-location team. You will be a strong problem-solver with the attention to detail demanded by complex technical projects.

Please note that you must have the right to reside and work in France indefinitely, and you must hold, or be eligible to hold, French and NATO security clearances. Read more here.
