The job
As the local IT Support- and Operational Specialist, you will be responsible for general administration, maintenance and optimisation of Systematic’s IT platform and the procurement of local hardware and licenses for colleagues in Canberra and Brisbane, Australia, and Wellington, New Zealand.
Your daily tasks are greatly influenced by the growth in commercial importance of our platform, so you can expect a great variation in responsibilities.
Some of your key tasks will be to:
- Diagnose and resolve IT hardware and software incidents and handle alerts,
- Provide technical support including walk-ins and phone calls,
- Investigate network performance and faults,
- Deploy relevant patches and updates keeping the platform current,
- Ensure that the platform and procedures are compliant with internal IT security policies and industry standards such as ISO certifications,
- Build and maintain an Australian-only enclave to make sure we are compliant with local commercial requirements,
- Build or reimage Windows workstations.
As part of the onboarding you must expect to be in Denmark for a few weeks, getting acquainted with your new colleagues and responsibilities. Apart from that, travelling to Denmark will be kept at a minimum, but do expect to have meetings outside normal working hours every now and then due to time differences. Onsite presence in the New Zealand office will also be required a couple of times a year.
Joining the team
The Operations team is a part of an international, multi-disciplinary and distributed team. We are currently a team of 16 operational specialists, half based in Bucharest (Romania) and half based in Aarhus (Denmark). You will therefore be a part of a team that offers diversity and experience. To manage and coordinate our daily tasks the team uses JIRA and Kanban.
Apart from colleagues in the Operations team, you will be part of our Group IT department (GRIT) comprising skilled specialists in Infrastructure, IT support, Application and Development tools and IT security. Locally, you will join an office with colleagues of various backgrounds, many of which work closely with our customers in the Defence domain.
Your qualifications
We are looking for a colleague bringing a relevant IT education at bachelor's level or higher, such as Computer Science, Information technology or similar. Ideally you will have at least three years of experience in the IT industry, preferably within IT support and operations and preferably a few years of experience with hyperconverged infrastructures.
Technically we are looking for someone with a strong foundation in:
- 1st and 2nd level support,
- Virtualization technologies,
- Servers and network,
- General IT security practices.
The tech stack we present, and hope to see that you have experience with, is:
- Linux/Windows servers and workstations
- Systems monitoring & alerting (e.g. SCOM or Grafana)
- Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (Nutanix, VMware)
- Various applications and OS’ (e.g. Windows 11, Office 365, GroupID, Intune and Azure AD)
To work within our Defence business unit you must hold, or be able to obtain, and maintain a Defence NV1 security clearance. More information on eligibility and clearance process can be found here.
