Business Development Manager for Defence, UK

 

Are you ready to use your naval or maritime expertise to strengthen Systematic’s defence business? Come on board as our new Business Development Manager and bring world-class command-and-control (C2) and interoperability solutions to clients across Western Europe and North Africa, with a strong focus on the UK market

 

The job: Drive Defence business growth and strategic customer relations
Your primary focus as Business Development Manager will be driving the growth of Systematic’s defence products and services related to IRIS and SitaWare in the Western Europe (WE) and North African (NA) markets. This involves both tactical and strategic relationship‑building with local customers, government officials and industry stakeholders, while gaining insights into their plans and needs.

Your responsibilities and tasks will include:

  • achieving personal and overall business unit sales targets
  • developing and executing strategies resulting in comprehensive account plans, updated with the VP
  • maintaining deep product knowledge and communicating offerings clearly to stakeholders
  • representing Systematic in customer meetings, presentations and negotiations
  • supporting local and group operations teams, with structured reporting to the VP
  • contributing to product development by sharing customer insights and requirements

 

The team: Join our Defence Business Development organisation
You will become part of our Defence Business Development organisation, an ambitious team dedicated to making a difference for our customers and driving growth across Systematic Defence. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development for the UK, Western Europe and North Africa, your primary work location will be in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK, with the possibility of working two days a week from home when office commitments allow. The role also involves travel to customer locations across the UK, Western Europe and North Africa.

 

You bring: Naval expertise, defence IT knowledge and a solid UK armed forces network 
The successful candidate will have extensive military C2 experience, either within planning, operations or intelligence, or alternatively in technical or acquisition fields. Naval expertise is essential given our current customer focus, alongside solid knowledge of the defence C2 market. A strong and demonstrable network within the UK armed forces at SO2 level and above is also required.

 

Preferably, you also bring:

  • experience in business development in the defence C2 market in the region. An ex-serviceman or woman with no sales experience would also be relevant, provided they have extensive naval expertise
  • a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant subject
     

As an individual, you are outgoing, self‑motivated and bring innovative ideas with strong interpersonal skills. You are driven, cooperative and maintain a positive attitude with both colleagues and customers. You see the bigger picture, think ahead, and seek a long‑term role where you can grow into greater responsibilities. You speak and write English fluently, and additional European language skills are a plus.
