Software Developer / Senior Software Developer – SitaWare Insight

Few Developers get to say their code is used in active military operations. As a Software Developer on our SitaWare Insight team in Copenhagen, you will work on a cloud-native intelligence platform trusted by NATO nations, building features that make complex data clear for commanders in the field.

The job
SitaWare Insight is the intelligence engine at the heart of Systematic’s defence portfolio. It is a cloud-native platform that processes vast volumes of data — from sensor feeds and imagery to intelligence reports — and delivers actionable decision support to military commanders in real time. As part of a cross-functional agile team, you will develop and maintain the software behind capabilities such as anomaly detection, natural language processing and coalition data sharing.

Some of your key tasks will be to:

• design, develop and test new features across the full stack using Java and Angular/React
• contribute to the evolution of SitaWare Insight’s cloud-native, scalable architecture
• work closely with Product Owners, Domain Experts and UX Designers to turn complex requirements into reliable software
• participate actively in code reviews and agile ceremonies, driving quality and continuous improvement
• at senior level: take technical ownership of features and help shape architectural and design decisions

Joining the team
You will join a team of Developers, Product Owners, and Domain Experts who care deeply about building software that performs in high-stakes environments. We work in focused sprints, value open discussion and share ownership of what we build. Our customers are NATO member nations and allied defence forces — and that sense of purpose runs through everything we do. You will be based at our Copenhagen office, collaborating regularly with colleagues across Systematic’s international locations.

Your qualifications
We are recruiting at both Developer and Senior Developer level. For both roles, you will need:

• a degree in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline
• professional experience at developing in Java
• hands-on experience with Angular or React
• a solid understanding of agile development practices and working in cross-functional teams

For the senior role, we are also looking for:

• several years of professional software development experience, including ownership of complex components
• experience with cloud-native development, microservices or distributed systems
• confidence in mentoring colleagues and contributing to technical direction

Strong written and spoken English is required for both roles.

SitaWare Insight makes use of various technologies and frameworks, the most prominent being: Angular 14 (TypeScript, SCSS), Java 17 microservices using Spring Boot, Docker on Kubernetes with Istio and Helm, Kafka, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Prometheus and Grafana, Gradle and Bazel, Linux and Bash scripting.
