Lead Developer, SitaWare Insight – Defence AI platform
Shape the future of military decision-making with AI. As Lead Developer for our SitaWare Insight team in Copenhagen, you will shape a platform that transforms raw data into actionable intelligence — and set the technical direction for the development team.
The job
SitaWare Insight is our AI-powered decision support platform, combining advanced data storage, real-time analytics and machine learning capabilities. It processes vast intelligence from across domains and delivers it to commanders at every echelon.
You will be the technical anchor of our Copenhagen Insight Scrum team, reporting to the Senior Project Manager. Your role sits at the intersection of hands-on development, technical leadership and cross-team architecture, with some of your time spent on hands-on coding and code reviews, and the majority focused on guiding how the platform evolves.
In addition, some of your key tasks will include:
- writing feature requirement specifications
- setting the technical direction, contributing to architectural decisions and coordinating with parallel Insight teams in Aarhus and across our Copenhagen programmes
- implementing high-quality backend and frontend software on the Insight platform
- guiding and investing in the growth of team members
- contributing to AI feature development
Joining the team
Our Copenhagen Defence business unit opened in August 2023 and has already grown to more than 30 developers working across the SitaWare suite. You will join a team that works on genuinely novel problems — SitaWare Insight is actively investing in AI-driven analytics, which means there is real depth to the engineering challenges here.
Day to day, you will work closely with colleagues in Aarhus, Bucharest and beyond, collaborating through regular cross-team syncs, shared design reviews and joint alignment on platform standards. The mission gives the work real purpose: the intelligence capabilities you build are trusted by commanders in the field.
Your qualifications
- A degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field
- Extensive experience as a Software Engineer, with time in or moving towards a lead or architect role
- Strong backend experience with Java and frontend experience with Angular
- Familiarity with cloud-native and cloud-agnostic architectures, including containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML integration
- Professional proficiency in English, both verbal and written
- A genuine desire to share knowledge and invest in the people around you
SitaWare Insight makes use of a variety of technologies and frameworks, where the most prominent are: Angular 14 (TypeScript, SCSS), Java 17 microservices using Spring Boot, Docker on Kubernetes with Istio and Helm, Kafka, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Prometheus and Grafana, Gradle and Bazel, Linux and Bash scripting.
Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or EU country for the past seven years, as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
