Systematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situationsSystematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situations

IT Operational Specialist

Could you see yourself thrive in an international team? Working to optimise, administer, and maintain our IT platform? Diagnosing and resolving IT incidents of varying complexity? Then we have the job for you!

The position

In this role, you will be responsible for general administration, provisioning, maintenance and optimisation of our IT platform. In addition to your role as our IT Operational Specialist, you will assist with local IT support – including procurement of local hardware. Your daily tasks are greatly influenced by the growth in commercial importance of our platform, so you can expect a great variation in responsibilities. Some of your key tasks will be to:

  • Diagnose and resolve IT hardware and software incidents and handle alerts
  • Investigate network performance and faults
  • Deploy relevant patches and updates keeping the platform current
  • Ensure high platform availability in close collaboration with other support team members
  • Ensure that the platform and procedures are compliant with internal IT security policies and industry standards such as ISO certifications
  • Troubleshoot issues with Audio\Video equipment
  • Assist in projects and advise on relevant technical matters
  • Provide technical support including walk-ins and phone calls, for colleagues in New Zealand and Australia.
  • Gather feedback and implement improvements based on user needs
  • Assist with local procurement of hardware
  • Assist with local IT support for employees
  • Build or reimage Windows workstations

You will be working closely with colleagues in Denmark and Romania to deliver high availability and performance and provide technical support for our users. As part of the onboarding expect to be in Denmark for a week or two getting acquainted with your new colleagues and responsibilities. Apart from that, travelling to Denmark will be kept at a minimum, but do expect to have to attend meetings outside normal working hours every now and then due to the time difference.

Joining the teams

The Operations team is a part of an international, multi-disciplinary and distributed team. We are currently a team of six operational specialists, half based in Bucharest (Romania) and the rest in Aarhus (Denmark) – and in process of adding more colleagues at both sites. You will therefore be a part of a team that offers diversity and experience. To manage and coordinate our daily tasks the team is using Scrum.

Apart from colleagues in the Operations team, you will be part of an internal IT department comprising skilled specialists in Infrastructure, IT support, Application and Development tools and IT security. Locally, you will join an office with colleagues of various backgrounds, many of which works closely with our customers in the Defense domain.

Your qualifications

As our new Operational Specialist you will have a relevant IT education at minimum  bachelor's level such as Computer Science, Information technology or similar. Ideally you will have five or more years of experience in the IT industry, preferably within IT operations and preferably a few years of experience with hyperconverged infrastructures. Technically we are looking for a strong foundation in virtualization technologies, network, storage, backup and general IT security practices.

The tech stack we can present for you, and prefer that you have experience with, include:

  • Linux/Windows servers and workstations
  • Systems monitoring & alerting
  • Kubernetes
  • Hybrid Infrastructure including knowledge of Windows 11, Office 365, Active Directory and Azure AD
  • Ansible, Bash, Go, Python or PowerShell

You will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and build trust with a range of stakeholders.

Please note: The successful applicant will be required to undergo background checks, including qualifications and police checks.

To work within our Defence business unit you must hold, or be able to obtain, and maintain a Defence NV1 security clearance. More information on eligibility and clearance process can be found here.
