Solution Engineer, Bern - Switzerland

Are you looking for a unique opportunity to step into a customer-facing engineering role where you will be responsible for delivering and implementing tactical communications systems and IT solutions? And are you keen to work in an agile environment where you have the opportunity to span multiple technical disciplines within the IT solutions area? If this sounds like you, then don’t miss this chance to become part of our dedicated Defence Services team in Bern, Switzerland.

Join a market-leading and international software company
At Systematic, our mission is to deliver IT solutions that make it simpler for users to make crucial decisions in demanding situations. We deliver world-leading command-and-control (C2) applications for managing complex operations within defence and security. Our C4I software solutions are in service with more than 50 countries worldwide, with our software being operationally proven.

You will be part of our Defence Services organisation and work out of our office in Bern. You will join a small team of customer-focused technical experts within a global, market-leading organisation, working to implement our C2 software to support critical decision-making on the battlefield.

Customer-facing engineering role
As a Senior Solution Engineer at Systematic, you will be a key player in delivering the SitaWare and Iris suites to the Swiss Army, but also to other defence customers in Central European countries.

You will be working closely with customers, rolling out a mission-critical system that creates value by simplifying decision-making within areas such as solution design, configuration, installation, technical support, technical training, interoperability, development and testing.

Your main tasks will include:
•    designing, implementing and supporting technical solutions at customer sites while ensuring your deliveries are within the agreed scope and time-frame
•    conducting technical training for our customers – both in classroom environments and in workshop-like set-ups
•    supporting the training of administrators and end-users
•    coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, subcontractors, consultants and colleagues at Systematic
•    being up to date on the status of Systematic products and support to ensure alignment of customer expectations and product roadmaps, maximising value for both our customers and our products
•    providing first and second-level customer support

You should expect some travel to customer sites and occasionally to our head office in Denmark.

Broad and diverse technical skills with customer-focused mindset
To succeed in the role, you must have strong and diverse technical skills combined with some years of experience from a similar role. You probably bring experience within software development or software system testing. In-depth knowledge and an understanding of computer networking, software and hardware systems as well as scripting skills (PowerShell) is key – as is a knowledge of complex software and hardware systems together with Docker and Kubernetes experience.

We also expect:

•    A technical degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level
•    A customer-focused mindset combined with good collaboration and communication skills
•    A good understanding of MS Windows and Linux/UNIX technologies
•    Experience with automation tools (terraform, ansible)
•    Experience in software and system testing
•    Experience with Java, .NET, JavaScript or Angular would be an advantage
•    Radio networking would also be a plus

Furthermore, strong English skills are essential, and it is highly advantageous if you can also communicate effectively in German.
