System Engineer for Healthcare

About the position
The position is located at our office in Aarhus within Systematic Healthcare. You will join our growing Columna Flow team. The growth is driven by commercial success on the export markets. Currently, we are working to enhance existing applications and build new ones. The team is friendly and ambitious and enjoys resolving hard-to-crack problems. It is cross-functional and responsible for the continued innovation, development and operation of the products. The team have a large on-going research project with Aarhus University and two University Hospitals.


The Columna Flow product is deployed at 40+ hospitals worldwide, both as cloud and on-premises solutions. We are responsible for improving and maintaining the products – and for ensuring that they continue to be the best on the market. New releases are shipped every 2-3 months, including new capabilities, bug fixes and other improvements.

Responsibilities and tasks

Columna Flow is a patient flow management solution. It aims to improve hospital employees’ work-life by improving real-time communication and collaboration between the hospital’s clinicians and service personnel and by optimising hospital logistics.


Columna Flow comprises a suite of applications, each designed to solve central communication and logistics challenges. They are user-friendly and easily accessible software solutions. They function via web applications and on smartphones (native Android applications). The solution includes several modern IoT and communication technologies that support advanced real-time locating systems (RTLS) and secure messaging capabilities.


Your daily tasks will involve:

  • Supporting requirements’ development
  • Detailed systems design
  • Detailed testing design
  • Writing code and test code
  • Participating in tests
  • Supporting operations - and implementation teams


Preferred competencies:

  • C#, ASP.NET/.NET Core 5
  • Vanilla JavaScript, HTML5, Less/CSS, jQuery (focus on Vue.js 2/3)
  • Experience in working with object-oriented design and design patterns
  • Test-driven development, profiling, optimisation
  • Familiar with Git and feature-based branching
  • Good understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows


It is an advantage if you have experience with:

  • Android development know-how (Java/Kotlin)
  • Entity Framework
  • Docker containerization, Kubernetes
  • TeamCity and Octopus or similar build and deploy tools
  • TypeScript
  • Responsive HTML layout design knowledge


Minimum qualifications:

  • You hold a BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science or equivalent, and you are passionate about working in an agile and complex set-up (previous exposure to distributed teams would be considered a plus)
  • You have solid software engineering skills, preferably with a sound understanding of clean coding principles, and strong competences within algorithm development and enterprise applications lifecycle management
  • You are comfortable handling whole vertical development (database, server, client)
  • You have a development background within modern front-end library/frameworks (Vue.js, Angular, ReactJS)
  • You have experience with SQL-like DB and ORMs
  • You have experience with unit testing concepts and frameworks (server-side, front-end)
  • You demonstrate a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken, and have good communication skills
  • You have previous experience of working in a Scrum team
