Systematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situationsSystematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situations

Systems Engineer in Defence, Bespoke team

Aarhus, Denmark.

Are you on the outlook for a role that covers a broad range of tasks like solution design, technical support, software development and testing? Are you motivated by creating and maximizing customer value? Then join our strong and committed development team that works closely with customers to develop customer-specific extensions to industry-leading products.

Join a customer-facing development team in an international and agile environment

Due to increasing success in our Bespoke Applications team in Denmark, we are now looking to expand it with a new colleague.
The Bespoke Applications team is part of Systematic Defence and operates in an international environment close to our customers. In Systematic Defence, all products have an open API that allows additional functionalities to be built externally onto the product. In conjunction with integrating the products in our customers’ environments, customer-specific extensions are often required in order to derive the best value from Systematic’s products. Our team is responsible for developing such extensions. We work closely with our customers to define and develop the required extensions and to ensure that requirements are fulfilled, and that the extensions are delivered on time and in the right quality.

Work with a broad range of tasks in a key role

You will play a key role in extending and delivering our SitaWare C4I and IRIS messaging suites for Defence customers globally. You will work closely with our customers when designing and developing new features, and you will also roll out mission-critical systems that create value through simplified decision-making. Development takes place in an agile and experienced Scrum environment in which you work directly with project members in Warsaw and other international locations. Your tasks cover a broad range of responsibilities within areas such as solution design, technical support, software development and testing.

Your everyday tasks include:

  • Designing and developing customer-specific extensions to our core products to meet customer requirements
  • Implementing and supporting solutions
  • Helping to ensure that projects are delivered within the agreed scope and on time
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, subcontractors, consultants and colleagues within Systematic
  • Keeping up to date with Systematic products to ensure the alignment of customer expectations and product roadmaps, maximising value for customers and products alike

Our new colleague

You would be a good fit to the position if you:

  • Have 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • Hold a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within development or design
  • Have strong experience with Java, enabling you to use the technology to develop customer solutions
  • Enjoy working closely with colleagues utilising agile methods such as Scrum
  • Have strong communication skills in English, enabling you to engage with many different stakeholders and at all levels of the organisation
  • Take an interest in understanding the customer situation and delivering optimum solutions that solve customer needs
  • Have a methodical workstyle; moreover, you have a keen eye for detail as well as the overall solution
  • Possess an improvement mindset, are ambitious in what you do and are not afraid to speak your mind

Our new colleague might also have

  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: JavaSE, C#, JEE, OSGi, JUnit, Mockito, Jira, Team City, Git, IntelliJ and Android
  • Experience with web-based solutions such as TypeScript/JavaScript and/or AngularJS/Angular

We work with security classified projects and, as a Systematic employee, you must be able to obtain a security clearance. This means that you must, as a minimum, have a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO/EU country for the past seven years. For more information about security clearance, please visit: https://systematic.com/en-gb/careers/security-clearance/
