Senior Systems Engineer for Mission Critical Product

About the position


The position is located at our head office in Aarhus and is a part of Systematic businesses within Defence. You will be joining a rapidly growing team with approximately 12 highly skilled international colleagues, located at the offices in Aarhus and Bucharest. The team is working purposefully towards the common goal of developing high-quality code, that helps defence forces make the right decisions in critical situations. Every day, this team is solving complex tasks in a large codebase, comprised of different technologies, to ensure high technological efficiency and solutions with great success.


Responsibility and tasks


As a Systems Engineer at Systematic, you will be involved in developing new features of the highest quality, and producing user-friendly code, which is easy to understand, easy to maintain and easy to use. You will join a competent team at SitaWare Headquarters, our flagship for defence industry products, which is staffed by more than 45 employees in total, of whom about 30 are System Engineers like you. Thereby ensuring a great possibility of ongoing professional feedback and sparring. The programme comprises four component teams, which each has 1-2 dedicated testers, an architect, a UX designer, as well as a project manager. You will, therefore, become a part of a unit and a team of excellent colleagues, which works to ensure high quality in the products we deliver, while simultaneously contributing to a modularised architecture and greater testability.


As a Systems Engineer, you will touch upon several technologies and your everyday tasks will of various degrees consist of:

  • Software development in accordance with customers’ needs, quality, and timetables.
  • Continually improving the existing code base while focusing on performance, security, scalability, and maintenance.
  • Ensuring the quality of your work and taking pride in understanding complex solutions and customer challenges.
  • Designing, breaking down, estimating, and continuously following up on development.


Preferred competencies


  • You hold a relevant master’s degree in software development, computer science or similar.
  • You have experience within some of the following technologies
    • JavaEE, Wildfly, AngularJS.
  • You have 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or a similar role.
  • You have experience in working with large-scale products.
  • You are passionate about full-stack development.


Minimum qualifications


  • You hold a relevant bachelor´s degree in software development, computer science or similar.
  • You are a skilled and passionate developer with a motivation for working in Java and Angular.
  • You have 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or a similar role.
  • You understand complex issues and make the complex simple by means of your methodological and structured approach.
  • You enjoy working in close collaboration with your colleagues within an agile environment.
  • You enjoy taking the lead in defining and developing well-working solutions.
  • You are fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
