Senior Systems Engineer for mission-critical product in Defence

Your code will help defence forces make the right decisions
At Systematic, we create exceptional solutions that give customers a user-friendly overview of complex situations, which helps to save lives. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be involved in developing new features of the highest quality, and producing code which is easy to understand and maintain. You will join a component team at SitaWare Headquarters, our flagship for defence industry products, which is staffed by more than 45 employees, of whom about 30 are developers. The programme comprises four component teams, which each has 1-2 dedicated testers, an architect, a UX designer, a product owner as well as a project manager. Every day, these teams are engaged in solving complex tasks in a large code base spanning many different technologies, for example Java and Scala. You will participate in running and optimising the existing code base to ensure its high quality, while contributing to a modularised architecture and greater testability.

 

You will immerse yourself in the following tasks:

  • Developing code of the highest quality which is easy for others to maintain and understand.
  • Developing features in accordance with customers’ needs, quality goals and timetables.
  • Continually improving the existing code base while focusing on performance, security and maintenance.
  • Ensuring the quality of your work and taking pride in understanding complex solutions and customer challenges.
  • Designing, breaking down, estimating and continuously following up.

 

The project is split between two locations in Aarhus and Bucharest, and as a result you can expect a limited degree of travel to our office in Romania.

You are ambitious for the product and your development
We envisage that you hold a BSc or MSc degree within computer science or similar, and that you have min. five years of experience as a developer – ideally related to product development. You are focused and ambitious by nature, and enjoy cooperating in your daily work to ensure the team achieves the best possible result. You understand complex issues, and successfully manage to make the complex simple by means of your methodical and structured approach. You enjoy working in close collaboration with your colleagues within an agile environment, and are able to take the lead in defining and developing the solution.

 

You are experienced at developing in Java or Scala, and ideally possess knowledge of Java EE and WildFly. Alternatively, you are experienced at developing single-page applications in AngularJS, Angular or TypeScript. It is also a plus if you have experience at validating and optimising performance in larger Java EE-based solutions, or experience with the development and validation of solutions focused on IT security.

 

Moreover, you should have experience at developing products that have introduced you to the following:

  • Product and code quality
  • Automated tests
  • Security
  • Performance
  • Efficient development environment
  • Continuous delivery

 

Last but not least, you speak and write fluent Danish and English.
