Senior Manager, Core Infrastructure Platforms

If you are motivated by leading skilled IT specialists and strengthening the systems that keep the business running, this role may be the opportunity you are looking for. It offers the chance to head a newly formed department while maturing the core platforms that ensure stability and long‑term improvement.

The role: Leading a core IT engineering function with impact
As Senior Manager of Core Infrastructure Platforms, you will lead an engineering team responsible for designing, building and implementing core infrastructure platforms – both on-premises and cloud-based. This is a hands-on leadership role that involves balancing people management, budget accountability and technical guidance while driving project delivery and continuous improvement within IT infrastructure.

Your key responsibilities:

  • lead and develop your team – Manage a team of six IT Specialists and one Architect, with one additional Architect position to be recruited. Focus on resource allocation, capacity planning and competence development to maintain and grow team capabilities.
  • manage budget and resources – Maintain rolling budget forecasts, track spend and ensure financial alignment while optimising resource allocation across multiple projects.
  • collaborate with Group IT Strategy and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure alignment between business strategy and Group IT project deliverables.
  • mature the department – Lead continuous improvement initiatives, develop processes and coach the team in both Agile ways of working and ITIL standards to sharpen engineering focus.
  • ensure effective vendor engagement and stakeholder management across the business units while working closely with Operations to ensure the effective handover of systems and services from Build to Run, maintaining third-level support responsibilities during transition phases.

Joining the team
On joining the team, you will assume leadership of Core Infrastructure Platforms, a newly formed department within Group IT Engineering. The team currently consists of seven members – six IT Specialists and one Architect – with an additional Architect to be recruited, all based in Aarhus, Denmark. The department was established as part of the recent IT reorganisation and sits within Group IT Engineering alongside Developer Experience & Platforms and Business Systems & Solutions.

Your team is responsible for designing, building and implementing core infrastructure platforms – both on-premises and cloud-based. The department handles third-level support, oversees non standard changes and manages version releases. The IT Specialists focus on implementation and change execution, while the Architects set the technical direction and design standards. The team collaborates closely with Operations to ensure smooth transitions and long term platform stability.

This role reports to the Director of Group IT Engineering. The environment values open and honest management, mutual support and building the future rather than maintaining the status quo.

You bring: Strong leadership and a solid technical foundation
We are looking for an experienced people leader with a strong technical foundation in IT infrastructure and/or operations. You should bring 5+ years of general management experience with people and budget responsibility, including at least 3 years within the IT domain. An IT technical background within infrastructure and cloud systems is preferred, ideally supported by management training or education. Experience from a similar-sized or larger enterprise’s IT function is essential.

We are also looking for:

  • an independent leadership approach – You are self-driven and proactive, able to identify opportunities and solve challenges without micromanaging your highly skilled technical team.
  • strong stakeholder engagement skills – You collaborate effectively across business units and the IT department, engaging and aligning diverse stakeholders while representing your team’s capabilities and constraints.
  • a structured and organised work style – You bring clarity, follow-through and reliable delivery to everything you do, ensuring your team has clear direction and priorities.
  • situational leadership capabilities – You adapt your style to your team’s needs, combining value-based leadership with practical execution. You understand when to lead from the front and when to empower your specialists.
  • technical understanding is a requirement – You do not need to be deeply technical yourself, but you should have a solid understanding of infrastructure fundamentals (primarily Microsoft technologies) and can engage credibly with Architects and Specialists.
  • a high level of fluency in English is a must and Danish language skills will be a plus. Experience with ITIL and Agile methodologies is a plus.

Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
