Systematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situationsSystematic - IT Solutions for critical decision making in demanding situations

Senior Infrastructure Architect

Do you want to shape the architectural direction of cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure in a newly formed IT engineering team – where your decisions genuinely matter? This is your chance to design, build and make a real impact!

The role: end-to-end architectural ownership across cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure

As our Senior Infrastructure Architect, you will play a key architectural role in Group IT Engineering –  ensuring the team has the expertise needed to design and deliver robust, secure and scalable cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure solutions across in-house projects and services. You will have full control of the architectural direction end-to-end, bridging the gap between business and project requirements on one side and the operational platform maintained by IT Operations on the other. In doing so, you will strengthen Group IT Engineering’s ability to deliver with quality, consistency and a clear engineering focus. You will work across Microsoft Azure, on-premises environments and Kubernetes-based platforms, with a clear mandate to focus on what you do best: engineering great solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure solutions using Microsoft Azure, including containerised workloads and Kubernetes-based platforms, aligned with project and service requirements
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks to ensure consistent, repeatable and auditable delivery across on-premises and public cloud environments
  • Embed security by design into every solution – covering identity and access management, network segmentation and compliance requirements relevant to Systematic’s field of work
  • Define architectural standards and reference designs and ensure thorough documentation and knowledge transfer to IT Operations upon solution handover
  • Collaborate closely with business project teams, Group IT departments and technology partners to align requirements and drive cross-functional delivery

Travel is minimal, up to 5 days per year.

Joining the team

You will be joining a newly formed department within Group IT Engineering, based in Aarhus, Denmark. The team currently consists of seven members – six IT Specialists and one Architect – and your expertise will complete the architectural capability of the team. The department was established as part of the recent IT reorganisation and sits within the Group IT Engineering segment alongside Developer Experience & Platforms and Business Systems & Solutions.

The team is responsible for designing, building and implementing core infrastructure platforms – both on-premises and cloud-based. The department handles 3rd-level support, oversees non-standard changes and manages version releases across systems. IT Specialists focus on implementation and change execution, while Architects set the technical direction and design standards. The team collaborates closely with Operations to ensure smooth transitions and long-term platform stability.

This role will report to the Senior Manager of Core Infrastructure Platforms. The organisation values open and honest ways of working, mutual support across the team and a forward-looking mindset focused on building the future rather than maintaining the status quo.

What you bring: cloud-native expertise, architectural ownership and drive to make an impact

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 3–4 years of experience in a dedicated architect role, with a proven track record of designing and delivering end-to-end cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure solutions. You will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field – or equivalent professional qualifications backed up by substantial hands-on experience. Experience from an enterprise IT environment of a similar or larger scale is highly valued.

We are also looking for:

  • Solid hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes-based platforms, with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation as natural parts of your toolkit – certifications such as CKA, CKAD or CKS are a plus
  • A strong security mindset with practical experience of embedding identity and access management, network segmentation and compliance requirements into solution design
  • Familiarity with ITIL and Agile ways of working and the ability to operate effectively within structured service management frameworks
  • An independent, self-motivated working style – proactive in identifying opportunities, structured in your approach and reliable in following through on commitments
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to align diverse teams and translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable direction
  • Fluent English is required. Danish language skills are a plus.

Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years, as we work on security-classified projects. Read more here.
