Senior Domain Advisor with both clinical and military experience for a ground-breaking new product
Are you an experienced medical practitioner with military experience? Do you want to use your knowledge to shape new IT solutions? Then come and join us!
Our new product Battlefield Health, part of Systematic’s Healthcare division, combines proven healthcare and C4ISR solutions into a unified defence medical information system. Drawing on over 30 years of defence and healthcare expertise, Battlefield Health provides critical decision support for healthcare professionals.
The SitaWare Battlefield Health platform offers a comprehensive multinational set-up to manage patient tracking and flow from incident to repatriation, delivering a common operational picture while meeting defence healthcare requirements.
You will become part of a great team distributed between Aarhus and Bucharest which comprises 7–10 people: Developers, Tester(s), an Architect, a Domain Advisor and a Project Manager.
You will collaborate closely with your teammates and learn from experienced colleagues who are passionate about building reliable, user-friendly solutions.
The job
The purpose of your role is to bridge the gap between clinical reality and software product development for deployed medical environments.
You will leverage your clinical background and experience from operational or austere medical settings – whether military deployment, remote medicine, SAR operations or similar – to shape how Deployed Hospital supports healthcare professionals working outside fixed hospital infrastructure. In collaboration with the Solution Architect, UX Designer and the development team, you will ensure the product delivers genuine clinical value under demanding conditions.
You will own the product backlog, applying your understanding of needs-driven development to translate operational requirements and clinical workflows into clear, actionable specifications. Your ability to navigate between clinical, operational and technical domains will be essential, and you will participate and drive front run and refinement-of-scope need to cover requirements while balancing cost and delivery.
This role is ideal for a clinician with operational experience who is passionate about healthcare innovation and who wants to shape how technology supports frontline medical care
The job includes some of the following elements:
- Own, prioritise and refine the product backlog based on clinical needs, operational requirements and product strategy.
- Lead needs identification and validation processes, drawing on your clinical and innovation experience.
- Translate clinical workflows and user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Drive domain-specific activities across feature development, ensuring solutions are clinically sound and operationally relevant.
- Prepare and conduct workshops with military medical stakeholders, clinicians and customer representatives, and document decisions and outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with the Solution Architect and UX Designer to validate designs against real-world use cases.
- Participate in sprint planning, reviews and testing of features.
- Support customer demonstrations, providing authentic clinical and operational context.
- Identify opportunities for innovation – improving how deployed medical units work through technology.
- Spar with Developers and Architects, helping them understand the clinical rationale behind requirements.
Your profile
Your path to this job leads from a military background with experience in evacuation procedures and coordination. You hold a medical degree (physician) or have an equivalent clinical qualification. In addition, you have military medical officer (MMO) training (e.g. Danish Defence medical officer qualification with officer rank) or equivalent military medical education combining leadership, operational medicine and medical doctrine.
To succeed in the role, you should recognise yourself in the following:
- Broad clinical experience across relevant specialties (e.g. emergency medicine, anaesthesiology, acute care, general practice).
- Experience with healthcare innovation, biomedical design or medical device development is highly valued.
- Military medical officer background with formal training in operational medicine, leadership and military medical doctrine.
- Operational or austere environment medical experience – military deployment, naval medicine, SAR operations, remote/expeditionary healthcare or similar settings where resources are limited and conditions unpredictable.
- Understanding of the challenges of delivering care outside fixed hospital infrastructure.
- Experience with healthcare IT systems, EMR/EHR or clinical decision support tools.
- Demonstrated experience with needs-driven innovation, product development or healthcare technology.
- Track record of translating clinical needs into product requirements, design specifications or development priorities.
- Ability to engage credibly with both frontline clinicians and technical development teams.
- Interest in defence medical operations and a willingness to deepen expertise in military medical doctrine.
Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
