Senior Data Engineer – impact company efficiency with smart data

SQL and Python back-end development, data modelling, creating sustainable data architectures and taking part in an exciting Fabric journey. Does that sound fun to you? Then we’d love to see you application!

The job

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll design and build the data foundation that enables business insights. Working with BI developers and our data architect, you'll translate business requirements into optimal data models and pipelines.

In short, you can look forward to:

  • Taking end-to-end ownership—from scoping through delivery.
  • Building efficient, automated data solutions while ensuring quality, governance, and performance.
  • Deliver robust, scalable infrastructure that powers data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines in Microsoft Azure to support our data-driven initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain data models.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems to meet scalability requirements.

Joining the team

As our new Senior Data Engineer, you will join our Business Intelligence team at Systematic in Aarhus. The team works very collaboratively and are quite passionate about data and insights, some might even call them nerdy. It’s a team consisting of two other BI developers, Data engineers, a data architect, two student workers and a manager. It’s a team who is constantly challenged to build new data solutions as our portfolio expands across business areas, so we are never bored.

Your qualifications

We are looking for a new colleague with 5 or more years of experience as a Data Engineer or Data Platform Engineer. You hold a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Moreover, we envisage that you:

  • Have a strong expertise in the Azure tech stack (Fabric, Azure Data Factory, SSAS, etc.) or similar tech stack. Preferably, with experience building and optimizing data pipelines.
  • Bring experience in data platform engineering including workspace architecture, capacity planning, and monitoring.
  • Have solid SQL and Python skills with ability to navigate complex scripts and perform performance tuning.
  • Have a deep understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and dimensional design.
  • Bring experience with data governance, security, access control, and compliance frameworks.
  • Are proficient in Agile and CI/CD practices using GitHub, Jira, or Azure DevOps with keen eye for automation.
  • Can articulate technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Are fluent in English, as it is our corporate language and used daily in conversations with colleagues worldwide.

If you are curious about AI applications and proactive in adopting tools that enhance work efficiency, it is definitely a benefit.

Additionally, it will be beneficial if you have experience with Spark or other big data processing frameworks, Power BI dataflow or semantic model development experience or a background in enterprise data architecture, but neither of them are a requirement.

Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
