SW Project and Line Manager for new Product

About the position

 

As a project manager, you will become a vital player in leading the early development of a brand-new strategic product launch based on the latest Cloud technologies. The product is a data-centric concept and will be part of the Systematic SitaWare Suite, which is a breakthrough in battle control software that offers clarity, simplicity and high performance that addresses real-world command and control challenges at the frontline.

The program currently consists of approximately 40 employees divided into scrum teams that are assisted by architects, test managers and UX designers. The teams are mainly based on highly skilled internal Systematic experts, who have been picked for this challenge, but we are also looking to hire external experts to join the program. The aim is to grow the program to approximately 50 employees.

Responsibilities and tasks

 

You will be running 2 scrum teams each consisting of a skilled scrum master together with developers and testers – a total of 5-8 members in each team. The team members are situated in Denmark and Poland. Alongside your project management responsibility, you will also have the full people management responsibility for the teams, excluding the team members situated in Poland.

Your main responsibility will be to set direction and motivate your scrum teams to ensure the successful launch and implementation of this new product. As we are early in the process you will have a great opportunity to influence the choices and the final product.

 

Your daily tasks will involve:

  • Plan, track, deliver and report on progress in the projects
  • Participate in recruiting for the scrum teams
  • Act as a close sparring partner to the program manager
  • Build and continuously improve high-performance scrum teams
  • Set the direction for the teams and ensure a high level of employee satisfaction
  • Grow talents and skilled team members through employee development and people management
  • Drive the implemented strategic initiatives and continuously improve development speed and product quality

 

Our ideal candidate

 

  • Has a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or similar
  • Has qualifications comparable to PMI/PMP, PRINCE2 or IPMA Level C/D
  • Has some People Management experience and have the ability to coach and motivate your teams
  • Has a solid project management discipline (planning, risk management, stakeholder management, reporting, KPIs etc.)
  • Is interested in technologies like Containers (Docker), Microservices, Angular 10+ and Kubernetes
  • Is eager to make a difference as you have a mindset of improvement and always strive to do better
  • Is outgoing and positive with a great ability to build trust-based on your empathy, responsibility and commitment
  • Is a team player and communicate well
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment and can take your part in creating structure and order.

 

Required expertise

 

  • Most important to this position is your 3+ years of experience with driving complex IT/SW projects based on agile methods.
  • We anticipate you to have been running project teams of at least 5 team members.
  • You are fluent in English and thrive in an international working environment.

  • Some travel activity is to be expected as you will be visiting our development teams in Poland and occasionally be part of customer visits around the world.
