Java Back-end Developer

Your value goes far beyond coding 
In this role, you will work in our Defence business unit, which is based at the top of Systematic’s new office building with some of the best views in Aarhus. You will join a well-established team consisting of a Scrum Master, Developers, and Testers. Seniority in the team ranges from one to 20+ years, with technical and professional skills a key priority. This enables the team to produce a mission-critical, world-class product of outstanding quality. The team is part of a programme of five Scrum teams which are all engaged in developing new features for our product SitaWare Frontline, which runs on Linux, Windows, and Android.

As a Software Developer, you will join our strategically important programme and become a vital player in ensuring deliveries of new product functionality to Defence customers worldwide. You will participate in designing and developing the data communication application that ties the entire SitaWare Suite together and enables tactical data to be distributed across low-bandwidth, high-latency networks. 

Specifically, you will: 

• participate in the scoping, designing, and architecture of new features;
• act as a back-end developer;
• implement new features for SitaWare Frontline and specifically the SitaWare Tactical Communication product;
• improve and maintain implemented features;
• troubleshoot, optimise, and solve complex problems in an existing codebase;
• ensure the quality of the solution by reviewing and inspecting the design and code created by your developer colleagues.

Join an international project team
Systematic is the largest privately owned software company in Denmark which partners with major international companies and sells solutions to customers in 50 countries. You will be based at Systematic’s headquarters in Aarhus. Here, you will join our 40-strong Danish and Romanian SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge project team.

Java Developer with distributed computing experience or interest
You are known for taking the initiative – rather than waiting for others to come to you, you proactively make things happen on your own. Likewise, you are not afraid to speak your mind.  While you can work independently, you are good at collaborating and listening to and evaluating technical input for improvement from your colleagues; they know they can approach you with questions and concerns.

Moreover, we envisage that you:

• hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar;
• have at least 2 years of programming experience;
• have experience with Java development as well as unit test frameworks – OSGI, Docker, and Kubernetes are a plus;
• bring experience with – or are interested in learning about – GIT, Gradle, TeamCity, and Jira.
