Internship: Internal Business Intelligence

Aarhus, Denmark.

About the position

Would you like to be involved in transforming data into information and insights, in optimising business processes and in contributing to strategic initiatives and internal reporting designed to improve employee skills and our business? Can you work with figures and communicate complex messages both orally and in writing? Then look no further for an exciting internship that will see you engaging with a wide cross-section of people in Systematic’s many business units.

As an intern at Systematic, you will work on an equal footing with your colleagues and be part of a team from day one, helping the team to perform its tasks. You will largely be able to organise your own working day and, following a thorough introduction to your duties, you will handle them independently in the team. At Systematic, we value a relaxed atmosphere and dialogue in a culture characterised by trust, transparency and helpfulness. We will strive to strike a good balance between what you would like to get out of your internship and your formal study requirements and your own expectations and priorities. The most important thing for us is that you learn a lot and enjoy your time at Systematic and that you find the internship to be a rich opportunity for professional and personal development.

Responsibility and tasks

The internship involves a high degree of practical tasks in connection with developing and implementing internal BI solutions, including different types of reporting. The tasks vary widely from basic BI architecture solutions to complex BI solutions customised to meet in-house needs and requirements. We are also focusing on automating our work processes and methods, and in particular, building an effective team where you can thrive and develop as a BI intern. This means you will be able to make your mark on the BI team and the way in which we work.

As an intern in Systematic’s Reporting & Insights team, you will help ensure that Systematic meets national and international standards in a way that creates value for our customers, our business and our colleagues. You will be part of a team with a broad range of skills, which works on Systematic’s core processes and strategic initiatives with the goal of improving our employees and enhancing Systematic as a business. You and your team will work closely with all our business units to help streamline Systematic’s processes while adhering to the company’s overall goals and strategy. You will assist our business units in using processes and tools (for example, Power Bi) to make sure they derive maximum value from them in their day-to-day work. As an intern, you will be in contact with colleagues across the entire organisation and work closely alongside people from different areas of expertise and at a high skills level.

You will also carry out a wide range of analytical, communicative and administrative tasks. Here is a taste of what you will be doing:

  • optimising, quality-checking and updating Systematic’s business processes
  • supporting experienced and permanent employees in Reporting & Insights with various business-oriented tasks (analyses, research, administration etc.)
  • assisting the team’s leader with calculations of, reporting on and following up on performance measurements in the team
  • drawing process diagrams that reflect the team’s development, operational and support processes
  • preparing and ensuring comprehensive documentation material and training material (guides, video etc.) for realised BI solutions

Preferred skills

  • Our ideal candidate will be someone who is on a relevant study programme that focuses on business processes and performance management. The most important thing is that you are not afraid to engage in some general data analysis, you have good communications skills, and you are good at making contact with a range of people in various positions.
  • It is an advantage if you are interested in working with surveys and are able to work with simple statistical analyses.
  • Previous experience in working with dashboard design would also be an advantage.
  • You have experience in communicating complex subjects in a structured, clear, recipient-focused manner, both in writing and orally.
  • Ideally, you have strong communication skills combined with good business acumen, and you enjoy being involved in a wide variety of assignments.
  • As a person, you are a team player who thrives when working in close cooperation with your team as well as with colleagues across the organisation, and you are willing to engage with customers.

Minimum qualifications

  • It is important for us that you can take responsibility for your own work and deploy your skills in spite of not necessarily possessing in-depth knowledge of every area in which you are involved.
  • You must be capable of teamwork, and you will be expected to actively participate. You are curious and keen to learn and are not afraid to ask for help.
  • You can spot opportunities and put forward your own ideas, as well as being able to see processes through to their conclusion.
  • It is vital that you have a solid understanding of the interplay between people, technologies and processes, and that you are organised, analytical, proactive and motivated.
  • You speak and write English fluently and are comfortable using it on a daily basis.
  • We work with security classified projects, and as a Systematic employee, you need a security clearance. Read more about it here: https://systematic.com/en-gb/careers/security-clearance/

Practical information

  • The internship will last five months, starting in February 2022. This is a paid internship if your studies allow it.
  • Provisionally, the internship will be full-time, but we are happy to be flexible in relation to your studies regarding counselling, your internship report and ECTS credits requirements.
  • We will be assessing job applications as we receive them, as we are keen to fill the position as soon as possible.
