Internship - Data Scientist 

 

 

Apply AI to healthcare challenges that matter. Join our Innovation team in Aarhus for a hands-on internship where you'll develop machine learning solutions that support clinical decision-making for healthcare professionals worldwide. 

 

Expected start: August 2026  

 

The internship  

You'll work on real AI challenges in healthcare, contributing to machine learning models that help clinicians make better decisions. From data exploration to model deployment, you'll experience the full data science workflow and see your work integrated into products that improve patient care across hospitals and communities. 

 

Your key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Developing and experimenting with ML/AI models for healthcare products, working with areas such as natural language processing, speech recognition, or anomaly detection 
  • Assisting in prompt engineering and working with large language models (LLMs) 
  • Preprocessing, analysing, and visualising healthcare data 
  • Contributing to model evaluation, documentation, and testing 
  • Collaborating with data scientists, architects, product managers, and domain experts 
  • Participating in technical sparring sessions and code reviews 
  • Bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to the team's innovation efforts 

 

Join our Innovation team in Healthcare 

Our Healthcare Innovation team sits at the heart of Systematics' mission to support healthcare professionals in critical environments. We develop AI solutions that simplify decision-making for users of our Columna platform worldwide. You'll join six colleagues - data scientists, architects and developers - who are eager to share their knowledge and explore what AI can achieve in healthcare. The team thrives on informal communication, mutual trust and genuine curiosity. We also enjoy table tennis breaks, plenty of coffee and laughs, and occasional matches on our padel court. 

 

Your qualifications 

You are pursuing a BSc or MSc in Data Science, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Statistics, or similar, and you have: 

 

  • Practical experience with Python and machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Transformers) 
  • Understanding of LLMs and prompt engineering – you have experimented with large language models and understand their potential applications 
  • Experience developing or implementing machine learning models – you have built models from data preprocessing through to evaluation 
  • Knowledge of Docker and FastAPI 
  • You understand data handling, model evaluation, the visualisation of data-driven solutions and the development of best practices. 
  • Appreciate teamwork and has good communication skills 
  • You speak and write English fluently as it is our corporate language. It is also an advantage if you can speak Danish, but this is not a requirement.  

 

The internship is a full-time position lasting five months, commencing on 17 August 2026. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a Danish study program and be based in Denmark during the internship period. The position is unpaid; however, if permitted by your academic programme, you will receive a monthly token of appreciation during your internship.
