Developer (Java & Angular) for mission-critical software
Aarhus, Denmark.
Here is your chance to be part of a team that works with mission-critical software – a product that is being used by defence forces worldwide and which has a huge impact on society. What we do matters! And we need you to help us on our growth journey.
The team
Our Defence business unit comprises several departments, and for this role, you will join our Mobile department working with two of our core products: SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge. These products are used across all domains and customers globally.
The work is organised in a small Scrum team, so you will join a close-knit group of 5-8 colleagues with different experiences and from different backgrounds who are all passionate about their work and who want to achieve success together.
The work
At Systematic, we never stop developing. We constantly aspire to do things better than we did the day before. Our approach to software development combines the robust principles of CMMI with the best aspects of Lean, Scrum and agile software development. Read more about how we work here. The team works in a feature-driven development process where all tasks are time estimated. We hold daily Scrum meetings to organise the day’s work within the team and to discuss any challenges. This results in four yearly releases for our customers – two beta releases and two final releases.
Your daily tasks will include …
- participating in daily Scrum meetings, biweekly sprint planning meetings and department meetings;
- working on software development from specification, analysis, and design to unit test and coding;
- developing features for our product within the Scrum team;
- release activities, such as defect fixing during system test periods;
- occasionally joining our innovation lab to prototype new, cool features if it suits you.
Are you our next colleague?
Ideally, you hold an MSc in Computer Science, Engineering or similar and have some relevant work experience within the field of software development. We code in Java and Angular, so you must also be interested in using these programs and preferably be familiar with one of them. A lot of our work is currently back-end focused, so good Java skills will come in handy. The products run on Linux, Android and MS Windows, so a knowledge of these environments would also be a plus.
At Systematic, we value our culture and our colleagues. We are a unique social company where we enjoy spending time together, also at team level. We are looking for a colleague with an open mindset and who sees opportunities instead of limitations. A colleague who wants to develop professionally – and possibly become a feature lead, Scrum Master or Senior Developer. It’s you who sets your career goals. You can find more about our shared values here.
We are an international company which operates across borders. Therefore, you must be comfortable speaking and writing English on a daily basis. We work with security-classified projects and therefore, as a Systematic employee, you must have a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO/EU country for the past seven years. Additionally, you must be able to obtain security clearance when working in our Defence Business Unit. Please read more here: https://systematic.com/en-gb/careers/security-clearance/
