Data Engineer

About the position

 

We are looking for a Data Engineer with software development experience for a newly created position. At our office in Aarhus, you will be part of our Business Intelligence & Data Science team, which supports Systematic’s business areas with projects within software innovation, BI and AI. The team provides expert assistance, and further develops software products and solutions in collaboration with our customers and Systematic’s business units. We have already achieved exciting results, but there is still considerable potential, which is why we are now looking for a Data Engineer to strengthen the way in which we work in the cross-field between software development and AI.

You will be part of a close-knit and growing team of more than 30 colleagues, ranging from young talents to seasoned experts. You will be the first Data Engineer on the team which, among others, comprises other data scientists, business intelligence consultants, UX designers, software architects and business developers, where knowledge sharing and collaboration are key to the team’s working day. The role will therefore be characterised by close cooperation with machine learning specialists and strong software development teams, and where, as a Data Engineer, you will be given an important responsibility acting as a sounding board and the link between our data scientists and software developers.

 

Responsibility and tasks

 

As the Data Engineer on the Business Intelligence & Data Science team, you will have the important responsibility of protecting data and making it accessible to data scientists, enabling you and the team to focus on developing the best AI models with the highest performance.

 

Your working day will be varied and involve:

  • Developing, building, testing and maintaining data architectures and end points
  • Adapting architecture to business requirements
  • Designing, setting up and integrating data from different resources, and administering big data
  • Preparing data for predictive and normative modelling. As well as gathering, storing, transforming and processing data in advance
  • Ensuring that data input/output for AI systems works seamlessly to ensure optimum performance

 

Preferred competencies

 

  • You hold a PhD or MSc degree in software development
  • You have experience from a similar role, where you have helped to establish the position as Data Engineer
  • You are solution-oriented, conscientious and motivated by bringing your technical skills into play among other skill groups
  • You have strong software development skills, and might already have experience with Cassandra, MongoDB, Apache Spark, Data Lake, REST and/or ETL
  • You possess experience from one or more of our business areas, such as Healthcare or Defence

 

Minimum qualifications

 

  • You have completed a relevant study programme at BSc level
  • You have experience as a software developer, and have worked with Python, SQL, NoSQL and Docker
  • You are fluent in English, both orally and in writing
