The job
As a Business Controller at Systematic, you will be involved in various customer projects in which you will have overall responsibility for project finances, including revenue entries, calculating project costs, managing balance sheet accounts and much more. You will be the main contact and sparring partner for Project Managers regarding the financial aspects of the various projects.
Your key responsibilities
- Financial evaluation: Assessing prospective contracts and projects in close collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Project setup & reporting: Creating projects and preparing reports in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) project module.
- Ongoing project control: Managing revenue recognition, cost/time registrations, and invoicing.
- Forecasting & budgeting: Preparing forecasts, budgets, and phasing plans.
- Business partnering: Acting as a trusted sparring partner for Project Managers on all financial aspects of customer projects.
- Reconciliation: Aligning the project portfolio with the balance sheet.
- Process improvement: Identifying and implementing opportunities to optimise workflows.
In short, you will be responsible for your own project portfolio, analysing the profitability of both contracts and on-going projects, forecasting and general project controlling.
About the team
The position is based either at our office in Aarhus (Denmark) or in Bucharest (Romania), and falls under Systematic’s Global Business Service area. You will join our controlling team of nine highly skilled colleagues who are ready to provide professional sparring in an international work environment.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience: 2+ years in controlling, preferably in project controlling, though other controlling experience is equally valued.
- Systems know-how: Comfortable working with ERP and BI systems.
- Collaborative mindset: A true team player with excellent communication skills.
- Commercial and financial acumen: Strong ability to link financial insights to business impact.
- Clear communicator: Skilled at translating complex financial data into clear, actionable information for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Driven and analytical: Highly motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented.
- Business partner approach: Enjoy working closely with the business and acting as a trusted sparring partner to project managers and finance colleagues alike.
- Global perspective: Fluent in English and confident working in an international environment.
